Now THIS is a nice Spring!!

We are all rejoicing over our beautiful weather! On average, our temperatures are still in the 30's and 40's so we are doing really well so far this Spring. After last Summer's dismal showing, we are all hoping for a warmer, sunnier season this time around.

This is when Alaska is at it's best. The smell in the air...the warm sun hitting your back...I feel happy to be alive in weather like this. The lakes and ponds are now beginning to break up and melt; the green grass is just starting to sprout; the snow is all but gone; the street crews are out, busily cleaning the roads and trails of dirt and rock; and everyone seems just a bit happier and brighter. I took my XC and Alpine skis out of my car yesterday (that's a yearly ritual now...they go in November and stay in until April) and replaced them with my frisbee, soccer ball, bike helmet, tennis racket, golf clubs and mountain bike on the bike rack (they'll now stay there into September). When you have nothing but cold and snow and ice for 7 months solid, this kind of warmth is dearly appreciated.
